There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.
When I look at the growing youth of today, the lens of internal happiness is becoming unimportant and skewed. As money, media, and fame grow to be the center focus of our society, this affects the internal peace of many individuals. By obsessively orchestrating your drive towards impressing the bystander and following the sparkly life, you are constantly left with disappointment, emptiness and the urge of wanting more.
The true road to character and inner peace, to me is not the outside attention around you, but your internal light from within. Being yourself, embracing your inner light, and carrying out what you believe in, is a stronger and healthier motive that can lead to the harmonization of other and self. This path is not always an easy one, and as time goes on in the wrong direction, it can become very dark and eventually fatal.
Every person needs some sort of connected feeling, a hovering protection, a shield, a mild covering to guard their deep dark insecurities, but how concrete can this safeguard be until it cracks from disappointment and insecurity? This veneer of being rich and famous is a weak and unfortunately accepted protector that covers our unique glows.
Lets face it, we all sometimes give in to the brand name, flashy lifestyle, name dropping, media obsessiveness, showing-offness via technology, however we must refrain from letting too much noise into our individual orbits. No one path is perfect, so lets try our best to be open to other peoples gleam, be proactive about embracing our own inner lights, and allow ourselves to infinitely grow into unique individuals, always.
